Who We Are

Why You Should Train Here

Superhero Jiu Jitsu Academy was founded in 2014 by Mike DeWitt to bring a welcoming, family-friendly place to train Jiu-Jitsu to the Springfield and Eugene communities.

Today, Superhero Jiu Jitsu Academy offers classes for kids ages 4 to 10, teens ages 11 to 16, and adults. We also run wrestling and fitness kickboxing to support your goals. Classes start as early as 5:00 AM and run as late as 7:00 PM so you can train on a schedule that fits your life.

We keep the environment free of macho egos and alpha attitudes. Our goal is to give you and your family the best space to grow as martial artists, build strength and mobility, and improve your quality of life.

Our facility includes on-site parking, strength and cardio equipment, free Wi-Fi, a kids area, and 2,000 square feet of mat space across two training rooms with new Zebra mats. We also carry apparel and gear to support your training.

As the longest-running accredited Jiu-Jitsu school of our lineage in Lane County, we are proud of our roots. Head instructor Mike DeWitt Jr., a third-degree black belt under Eddie Bravo and the highest-ranking black belt in the Pacific Northwest within that system, has competed at top events including ADCC Trials, IBJJF black belt divisions, Submission Underground, Gracie Nationals and Worlds, and other national and local tournaments.

Join our community and discover the confidence, friendships, and self-defense skills that Jiu-Jitsu can add to your life.

  • Mike DeWitt Jr.

Mike DeWitt began wrestling in 8th grade and continued through high school, laying the groundwork for a lifelong focus on grappling. In 2008 he stepped onto the Jiu-Jitsu mats and immersed himself in the system he still teaches today, applying techniques with relentless consistency in competition.

Mike is a four-time Submission Underground winner and the 2012 Gracie Worlds Advanced Champion. He earned runner-up at Gracie Nationals in 2015, won three NAGA Advanced Championships, the Subleague Elite Championship in 2015 and 2017, the Ground Warrior Elite Championship in 2016, and Subleague Advanced titles in 2010 and 2011. His coaching blends deep technical knowledge with a competitors mindset so students learn skills they can use.
